The AAS award winning building (Building of the Year 2006) has a unique layout, which successfully combines exceptional design and functionality with energy efficiency. Awarded LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Gold certification in 2012, AAS became the first building to do so in the country and the region.
Triple Green served as the LEED consultant responsible for start to finish LEED documentation, ASHRAE energy auditing, and coordination of all required indoor air quality tests and building facility operational audits. Members of Triple Green collected and formatted the LEED documentation for review, managed the project team and submitted the application to GBCI. In addition members of Triple Green provided consultations to the facility management and school management staff on how to improve the sustainable operations of the school through energy and water savings, waste reduction, green cleaning and green purchases, a green food plan for the students and a transportation program among others. The school has become an example of health and wellbeing for its students and Triple Green has been invited by other school boards to certify other facilities.
